YTZ® Grinding Media Features
YTZ® Grinding media
is a high density, highly spherical product that is the ultimate in
high performance dispersion media for horizontal mills. It's
density (> 6 g/cc) makes it ideal for high viscosity mill
bases. The shiny, nearly defect-free
surface of
YTZ® beads is extremely smooth, for very
low mill and media wear. Look at the photo to the left.
The grinding beads are shiny initially, and the surface becomes even
smoother after the first use. YTZ® beads are not
inexpensive. This begs the question, "How can I benefit from the
performance characteristics of this product, i.e. what is the
cost/benefit ratio?" With the quality demanded by high
performance coatings users, combined with the very long lifespan of the
grinding beads, the advantages of YTZ® beads become
apparent. Consistent grinds, very high production rates, and the
availability of very small diameter sizes make YTZ® beads cost effective
for many applications. Another advantage of YTZ® beads is that they do
not oxidize ("rust") in the presence of aqueous dispersions. As a
result, they offer the advantages of the density of metallic media
without the oxidation. Here are the available sizes
