ZY
Yttrium Stabilized Zirconia Beads

Now
available from Quackenbush! . . . ZY
yttrium stabilized zirconia
beads. Very high density (6.0 g/cc) ceramic beads for very high
viscosity formulations and applications where exceptionally long bead
life and minimal product contamination are desired. There are
other yttrium stabilized zirconia beads
available on the market, but none are as cost effective as ZY beads. Note the highly
polished, smooth surface in the photo above. This characteristic
plus the hardness of the beads help to produce very
low mill wear and bead wear. Like any high-density grinding
media, your formulation should be optimized for a high density
bead. Using ZY (or any
other very high density media, for that matter) with a low viscosity
formulation will result in very rapid wear to both the beads and the
mill. Ideally, you should formulate your product to take
advantage of the properties of the media. You may want to visit
our free publications "Free
Guide to Selecting Mill Medias" and "Free
Guide To Milling and Grinding Media Troubleshooting" for assistance in determining if ZY
beads are a good choice for your application.
ZY beads cost
approximately
1/3 less than other yttrium stabilized zirconia beads!
Further, ZY
beads have approximately half the wear rate
of the most popular cerium stabilized beads! This makes them a
very cost efficient alternative, and a "best buy"!
ZY beads are ideal for grinding
many products
including paints, inks, iron oxides
(especially for magnetic tape compounds), cosmetic industry products,
and pharmaceuticals. ZY beads produce very little wear
by-products due to their extreme hardness, thus maintaining the
integrity of your product.
